Staying Motivated — Tips from Personal Trainer Dave Hansey
I know that staying motivated is HARD. It is not easy to stay fit and no rosy sunshine stories here, it is even harder to get in shape. So you need to understand that you have to work on staying motivated. You will have setbacks and you need to find a way to get past them.
For some people this is trying something new. Is there something at the gym you have NEVER tried? Is there a piece of equipment that you don’t even have a clue about how it works? These are some good places to start. A new gym routine can really kick some life into your mental motivation but also help you bust that “plateau”. Most plateaus are a result of some motivation downturn. You slow down, you work out less often and then you see the scale or body changes come to a halt.
If there is not a new motivator like that then maybe you need to try something new outside. I love to get out and run but I really only get to on the weekend. But it is like recharging a battery as well as a great workout. So try going somewhere new. Go for a hike. Go for a walk. Go to the zoo. Go for a run or a bike ride. Go pull the kids around in a wagon. You get the idea!!
The best way to get past a reduction in motivation is to kick back at it!!
